the toast art picasso
Renowned for using ‘flame as a paintbrush’, the Kiwi artist Maurice Bennett succeeded in developing his very own style - Toast Art. la new yorkina
Kazumi from CHAKO recently introduced us to La New Yorkina. Established by her high school friend, Fany Gerson hand-crafts and packs Mexican ice pops with fresh ingredients in yummy flavours such as Fresa (Strawberry) Tamarindo Fresco (Fresh Tamarind), Horchata (Cinnamon Rice Milk), Mango con Chile (Spicy Mango), Jamaica (Hibiscus) and Aguacate (Avocado) and more. We cannot wait to try this the next time we’re back in New York. Available at Hester Street Fair Weekends, Hester & Essex Streets 10am-6pm, New York City

derriere
Out of all the meals we enjoyed in Paris, Derriere was one of the best we had. Although we took the late seating at 11pm, the berry mojitos and pineapple caiparinhas from next-door Andy Wahloo (with their wonderfully type-set drinks menu!) staved off the hunger and we took turns wandering around the house, looking for the ’smoking room’, which was in fact hidden behind a large Narnia-like closet. hongkong honey
Hong Kong Honey will be launched at Kapok Sun Street on Friday July 16. It’s a local organization of beekeepers and designers that aims to communicate the value of bees and benefits of local produced honey.
The launch night starts at 6:30pm, including a candle making workshop and honey foods. Works by Benny Luk (Sixstation), Martin Cheung (HK Photographer) and Studio Leung (HK Design Studio) will also be exhibited until Sunday August 8 - so don’t miss out!

circus antics
Supper clubs seem to be making a quiet comeback. The latest to open is Circus London, located smack in the centre of Covent Garden. Despite mixed reviews on the Southern-style food, the boudoir-meets-space-ship interiors by Tom Dixon and performances by contortionists with nipple tassles will take your mind off the 20 pound cocktails you’ll likely be sipping. Either way we’re intrigued by the concept and the candy slickness of the decor and identity.

design a slice
The Bread Art Project, aims to feed America with grains through donations of artwork. For every submission, the projects gets $1 and over 5,800 are displayed on the website’s gallery walls. Developed by Feeding America, and the Grain Foods Foundation, we think this is a great little idea. Get creative with your slice and support a wholesome cause.
