The Whiteboard
“David Bowie is” Exhibition
When we are talking about London’s nightlife of yesteryear, ones will not be missed are the Punks and also a signature punk icon, David Bowie.
The Victoria & Albert Museum has been given an unprecedented access to the David Bowie Archive to curate the first international retrospective of the extraordinary career of David Bowie. More than 300 objects will be brought together for the very first time, e.g. lyrics, fashion, photography etc. The exhibition’s concept is derived from David Bowie’s famous song “Heroes” and also a book “We Can be Heroes” which has the most detailed account of London’s coolest people in nightlife.
The exhibition will start from 23 March and end on 28 July 2013. If you don’t have a chance to stop by London for the exhibition, make sure you get a copy of “We Can be Heroes”.

zuzunaga
Zuzunaga is founded by the Spanish artist Christian Zuzunaga who now resides in London and been living there for the past decade. Originally a student of biology, he was fascinated by the microscope and the way in which it enabled one to magnify an object to break it down into its smallest parts. Though the biological studies did not last, the practice of magnifying did and to this day, breaking down patterns and images into their infinitesimal components remains at the core of his work. This focus is now being all expressed in his work from fashion to home living products. Some of them reminds me of Space Invaders.
when brown turns grey
Thom Browne has just launched it’s diffusion line Thom Grey at Barneys and selected retailers and I.T is carrying this new brand. Seems like this second line is J.Crew meets Banana Republic!? When the economy is still not looking very rosy, believe diffusion line is a way all the key brands weather the storm, am sure there are more coming up.
‘White Drama’ by Comme des Garcons
Musee Galliera and The Docks in Paris invite you to discover Comme des Garcons’ latest designs from fashion show Spring-Summer 2012 at the exhibition ‘White Drama’. There is no seating, no platform, no timing … it’s not a fashion show but an installation, designed by Rei Kawakubo herself, open to the large public.
Creating fashion disruption by encasing 33 couture looks into clear plastic bubbles, Rei Kawakubo transfigures the classic fashion show and distorts the codes of haute couture.
Showcasing almost monochrome designs, she magnifies the major stages of life: birth, marriage, death and transcendence. Clusters of fabric roses and graffiti like patterns adorn some of the garments whilst some handkerchiefs and lace decorate others. Inspired by the high hats and long coats of the Sevillan Holy Week’s processions, by christening gowns and wedding dresses, this collection offers a poetic and spiritual take on the history and future of fashion design.
