Excess, sorority, love and loss are simply some of the experiences on a raucous “Girls’ Night Out”. Such explosive shenanigans are explored in Consequences, an exhibition in which five cutting-edge female artists and designers have utilized the technique known as exquisite corpse – a method, invented by Surrealists in 1925, by which multiple collaborators add in sequence their contributions to a single composition.
The result is an exquisitely twisted patchwork of visuals that thrills in beautiful and provocative ways. Consequences also explores and dissects the random and often distorted events – some joyous, others disturbing – that will accompany any riotous night on the town.
United through a mutual lust for pencils, paper and technology, the five Hong Kong-based artists have come together to display their individual passions in one collaborative show. The artists included Danielle Huthart, Sum-Sum Tse, Emily Eldridge, Kate Barnett and Kim vanGennip. Exhibition at The Economist Gallery, G/F, Fringe Club, Central, from 23 April – 11 May, 2009 with opening preview, 23 April, 2009.
