DETOUR is the creative off-the-beaten-track program that runs parallel to each year’s Business of Design Week. Hong Kong Ambassadors of Design and Hong Kong Design Centre approached Whitespace to help them art direct and design the guidebook that details the week-long events, parties, exhibitions and workshops. With a print distribution of 100,000 copies, the bilingual guide was designed to be pocket-sized with maximum visual impact. The directional graphics were also printed as table mats to be used during the DETOUR dinner for all the speakers of BoDW. The overall program and guide was well-received and lived up to the quirky nature of the DETOUR mission – to infuse a playful creative spirit to an otherwise serious conference.
