Our friends from Good Morning Technology have been hard at work. Alongside the launch of their new bike product Copenhagen Parts, they've designed a lighting range called Archetype for LUCEPLAN that debuted at the design fair Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2010. We first met Good Morning Technology when partners Mads Kjøller Damkjær and Lars Thomsen visited Whitespace and they've been kind at sharing their latest news with us. With their lamp for Luceplan, they set out to achieve something different. The intentionally archetypical shape and the familiar action of screwing in a bulb accompany the discovery of a light source that is an alternative to incandescent lighting. The action is also a metaphor. Archetype is in fact the combination of source and lamp; “by combining high technology and innovative light diffusion in simple, clean and formal lines, Archetype builds a bridge between before and now…”
The new lamp is the logical continuance of the sustainable path that Luceplan has been taking for some time now: the uninterrupted research into the functionality of lighting devices. In this case, the LEDs are one of the most interesting energy-saving solutions of recent years and they are characterized by long life, high output and no maintenance costs. Besides the lamp GMT also designed a range of armatures to be used.
